How it began

Catriona Collins trained at the University of Sydney and graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Speech Pathology) in 1999. Since beginning in private practice in 1999, she has worked in various private and government settings in Australia and New Zealand including Autism Spectrum Australia, The Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (DADHC), The Ministry of Education - Special Education and Abano Rehabilitation.

Catriona originally started The Communication Clinic Ltd in New Zealand. After moving back to Australia, and settling near Maitland, she decided to recommence in private practice.  At The Communication Clinic PTY LTD the clinicians are trained in the assessment and treatment of speech, stuttering, language, literacy, voice, augmentative and alternative communication, food fussiness and feeding disorders and social skills in children, adolescents and adults. 

Therapists at The Communication Clinic PTY LTD are all Certified Practising Members of Speech Pathology Australia and are trained in a variety of specialised programs and techniques including:
  • Hanen Certified
  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Paediatric Feeding, including the SOS approach to fussy eating and problem feeders
  • Various treatment approaches for articulation/ speech disorders, including PROMPT
  • Key Word Sign
  • Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) books
  • Secret Agent Society (SAS computer program)
