Communication Groups

The Communication Clinic offers a range of groups to build communication skills in a social setting. Our groups run each term and are based around a key communication challenge, such as developing social skills, tackling fussy eating, building alternate communication skills or working on expressive and receptive language.

Speech therapy groups and sessions may vary each term, based on demand and our availability. An overview of our most popular group sessions is included below. As always, please contact us if you’re interested in finding out more about a specific group program.

Social Communication

Our social communication groups aim to support individual social communication goals and are driven by a strengths based approach. We are a neurodiversity-affirming practice that focus on supporting people to identify and tap into their social strengths and advocate for their social needs. We provide a safe space to explore, connect, problem solve and reflect.

We work closely with caregivers and support people to assist them in learning people’s unique social interactions to support successful communication across environments.

Clinicians have extensive training in a range of programs which we draw from. We now use neurodiversity-affirming resources to create individualised group experiences. Clinicians have knowledge and experience delivering:

  • Gestalt Language Processors – Meaningful Speech
  • Sea Bridges
  • Autism Level Up
  • Standing Up For Myself
  • Play Skills with Professor Karen Stagnitti
  • PEERS
  • TalkAbout
  • Hanen – More than Words
